How to De-Fang Shame | Zoom Workshop | SEPT/OCT 2025
How to De-Fang Shame | Zoom Workshop | SEPT/OCT 2025
Four sessions from Sept 27-Oct 18 @ 9am PST / 12 noon EST / 5pm GMT+1
You are signing up for four (4) two-hour workshop sessions, one per week for four weeks. Class will be conducted online via Zoom. You will receive prompts for writing exercises in class, as well as weekly writing or reading assignments to be completed between class sessions. After the conclusion of each session, you will receive (via email) a packet of class materials that includes all the readings and writing prompts shared in class.
This generative writing workshop delves into the sensitive work of untangling the myriad shames that bind us. We will read the works of other writers who have written through their shame, and we will use a variety of writing prompts and exercises to see ourselves — and our shames — clearly. We'll take an incisive look at what shame is and how it has harmed us, talk about who shame actually benefits, and explore the ways in which writing can set us free.
We will meet online for two hours on four consecutive Saturdays: September 27, October 4, October 11, and October 18. That’s 9-11am San Francisco time or 5-7pm Lisbon time.
Equipment required: A screen, internet, something to write in or on, and your curiosity and willingness to dig deep.
