COMPASS REALTY _ PROPERTY BOOKS
On occasion I have written real estate property books for Neal Ward properties. The residences vary from a sprawling equestrian estate in Woodside, CA to a secluded mid-century modern mansion in Marin County to an historic San Francisco home built before the 1906 earthquake. The one thing they all have in common is that their price tags figure in the multi-millions. To attract well-heeled buyers, Neal Ward hires me to romance the rooms for sale. This entails a thorough tour of the property, during which I take detailed notes. Then I sit down with floor plans and real estate research to craft a story that captures the unique personality of each property.
TEA COLLECTION _ ITALY
Travel is at the heart of Tea Collection. It’s how product designers discover their inspiration for new clothing lines, and how co-founder Leigh Rawdon teaches her two sons about the world at large. When we launched our Italy-inspired collection, our January catalog featured a story about Leigh and her family exploring Italy.
The second editorial feature we published for the Italy collection told the story of a California family who traveled to northern Italy to visit relatives and introduce young children to their Italian cousins…

TEA COLLECTION _ AUSTRALIA
Our Australia-inspired clothing collection had a recurring theme of adventure. So for our spring catalog, we told the story of a bunch of Aussie kids going on a bushwalk in a wildlife park north of Sydney to learn about native plants and animals with Ranger Karen.
TEA COLLECTION _ PEN PALS
Since Tea Collection is created for “little citizens of the world,” we were always looking for new ways to engage kids themselves—instead of just their parents. Each season, we created destination-inspired activity books that we would pack in to boxes with customers’ orders. The activities were designed for kids and featured fun facts we would research about the country that inspired that season’s line of clothing.
For the Australia collection, we added a special twist. My daughter just happened to have a pen pal in Melbourne, Australia. So not only did we travel to Australia to bring the two pals together face-to-face for the first time, we also told their story and encouraged Tea kids to find their own pen pals. It’s a great way to get kids connected to the world at large.
TEA COLLECTION _ INDIA
During the fall of 2014, we tried a grand experiment at Tea Collection. As we were brainstorming photo shoot concepts for the coming spring collection, which was inspired by India, we decided that instead of trying to recreate the country in a studio, we should just do what our brand stood for. We should go there. So we convinced co-founder Emily Meyer to pack up her family and travel to India for the adventure of a lifetime. I packed my favorite Jetstream pens and a small notebook and went along, documenting every moment so I could do justice to the story.

TEA COLLECTION _ GIVING BACK
In an effort to give back and do good, Tea Collection partners with The Global Fund for Children, which works with local organizations around the world to transform the lives of children on the edges of society—trafficked children, refugees, child laborers—and help them regain their rights and pursue their dreams. While on a trip to Jaipur with Tea, I spent a day with some of those children. When the time came to tell the story of the good work being done in India, I wanted people to connect with it, to remember it. So I told a human story. I told the story of Rekha and her goat. It was published as an insert in our summer catalog.
AT HOME WITH NATURE _ GHOSTWRITING
At this point in my writing career, I've written about pretty much everything: food, fashion, technology, travel, healthcare, transportation, stereo systems. And one time I wrote (ghostwrote) a coffee table book about interior design.
